3rd Cambridge Acro Festival 2019

Event Details

Cambridge Acro Festival is BACK 😀

For the third year running, we’ve once again rented out a MASSIVE sports hall in Cambridge. Standing tricks, L based acro, handstands, flexibility, tumbling – the lot. With 5 workshops running at any one time, we expect everyone from absolutely beginner to extremely advanced to be entertained.

For anyone wanting to jam, we’ll also have a dedicated mat space set aside, plus 3 lunges.

And, most importantly, a huge supply of tea and coffee.

TEACHERS
Great teachers = great workshops = great convention. So far, we have confirmed the fantastic:

– Paul

Tiko Venne
Tom Mörtl
– The Smiths
Jaqui Wan
Angelo Tormena Acroyoga Sanctuary
Ash Davies

If you would like to teach, please fill out this form. If you write to us on Facebook, we’ll tell you maybe and then forget. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1AdMeqbltnNXOzC46fk-LrnUteFaet4zMA_nC-sKu7fA/edit

YOUR LEVEL:
Beginners – expect to be welcomed. We always have at least 1 workshop at any one time which is completely beginner friendly (i.e. if you don’t even know what acro is, there will still be teaching suitable for you).

Intermediate – expect fun, challenges, and variety.

Advanced – you won’t be bored. We have some extremely high level teachers planned, who are never short of ways of upping the difficulty if it looks like you’re cruising, and also plenty of lunges for jam time.

ACCOMMODATION:
There will be a (limited) number of spaces for people to stay with lovely Cambridge acrobats who have offered to put up some visitors from out of town. Alternatively there are plenty of hotels / airbnbs in the area (these book up quite quickly in the summer though so it’s worth being organised)

FOOD:
Tea and coffee are provided in large quantities throughout the festival. Please bring a mug (and spare mugs!). We will also provide some light snacks. For meals, you can either:
– head to the nearby Sainsbury’s (about a 10 minute walk)
– order takeaways to the sports hall (we recommend using Deliveroo)
– go out for food in the beautiful historic city of Cambridge
– cook with your host (check with them first..!)

MASSAGE and PHYSIO:
As usual, we’re planning to invite a couple of the world’s best sports physios – watch this space!

We are also lucky enough to have some local trainee masseuses that would like to come and practice on us – slots will be available to book at the festival.

TRANSPORT:
By air: Stansted airport is by far the most convenient. From there, you can either hire a car and drive to the sports hall (30 min drive; parking is easy) or you can take the train (see below)

By train: Cambridge Station is the most convenient. Cambridge North Station is much less convenient. From Cambridge Station here you can take Busway Route U directly from the station to the sports hall.

By car: there is loads of parking just outside the venue.

THE VENUE:
The festival is held in the main sports hall of the Cambridge University Sports Centre. The full address is:
University of Cambridge Sports Centre
Philippa Fawcett Drive
Cambridge CB3 0AS
