3rd Post-CAMP Acro Masterclass – Retreat in Costa Rica

Event Details

? Post-CAMP 2020 is alive and kicking!

Post-CAMP returns for a 3rd edition, bringing you over 25 hours of high-level training in yoga, handstands, acroyoga and partner acrobatics in a discrete and gorgeous location, nestled alongside a pristine river in the Costa Rican cloud forest. Originally produced by Jill & Heidi, this year Jill unfortunately won’t be with us; let’s support her as she supports her family at home during an important period of growth! Taking her place this 2020 is Micah Ellinger, professional hand-to-hand performer, acroyoga wizard, teacher of movement and trusted community member. Heidi and Micah are pleased to welcome you on a journey of balancing … together.

Heidi and Micah’s 3.5-day masterclass combines partner acrobatics and acroyoga techniques in a challenging and compassionate practice, intent on keeping acro intriguing and sustainable, exploratory and humane. Doused with originality, Heidi and Micah are pleased to be your guides in yoga, movement exploration, handstands, partner flow, hand-to-hand and creative process. Through their careful sequencing and years of experience, you’ll increase your range, stamina and fitness while enjoying rare ‘acro scenery’ along the way. Tools for adapting the practice to your and your peers’ unique needs will be offered and encouraged. Delve into your handstands, master new partnering repertoire, flow out of the box, and get into the zone … in the company of awesome practitioners.

We are fortunate to return to Las Quebradas Biological Center, located 136 kilometers south of the Costa Rican capital of San José and a 15 minute drive from the City of San Isidro de El General. A communal nature reserve managed by FUDEBIOL, it is located in the San Isidro River basin whose altitude is between 1100 and 2400 meters above sea level, forming part of the foothills of the Cordillera de Talamanca in the Pacific sector. Dedicated to the protection and conservation of natural resources, Las Quebradas features a vast wealth of flora and fauna characteristic of the humid foothills rain forest. It is home to the water sources that feed the aqueduct of the City of San Isidro de El General. On site is a conference room with wooden floors and windows to the forest, which we use as our movement studio.

▸ Rideshare : Every year, several participants at Kirk’s Event, Camp C.A.M.P. in Platanillo (February 12-18) drive to Post-CAMP, about a 30 minute drive further inland. During Camp C.A.M.P. you will have the opportunity to meet with others who are headed the same way and ride-share.

From the airport (SJO) :

▸ Taxi : It is possible to take a taxi from the airport directly to Las Quebradas Biological Reserve, about 3 hours’ drive; however note that this option is best shared with a group of 3 or more to keep costs down. Contact [email protected] for the contact information of private taxis that you may book in advance.

▸ Shuttle : Closer to the dates, we will be looking at participant travel information and assessing the need for a shuttle, whether from the airport in San José or from Camp C.A.M.P. in Platanillo.

▸ Rental Car : Should you rent a car from the airport, there is parking on-site. Locate Las Quebradas Biological Center, San José Province, Costa Rica to navigate with your mobile app.

????? ????? is a slackline, acroyoga and handstand teacher and innovator. From walking some of the world’s longest highlines, to balancing on minimal points of contact in acroyoga, playing with weight and gravity is her mojo. Hand-to-hand has become a wellspring of creative possibility in her acroyoga research. The former architect loves to deconstruct movement and share her understanding with others. She seeks to open students to their own potential on a journey of empowerment, towards that undeniable voice that cries, “We got this!” Her approach is as centered around “priming”—physical and mental preparation for greater cohesion in partner movement—as it is around delivering awe-inspiring moves. She teaches worldwide and is senior teacher trainer with Acroyoga Montreal. Heidi is born in California, based in Montreal.
