Dance & Acrobatic lifts weekend intensive with Elliot Fudge and Gillian Moon in Calgary

The focus of this weekend intensive will be on refining and improving your acrobatic lifts technique, as a step towards helping you achieve your dance lift goals. Participants will gain a broad knowledge of training drills and will work through different way to get your partner in the air. All skills will be broken down into intuitive and safe progressions.

The level of the workshop will adjust to the skill level of the participants and will cover multiple degrees of difficulty. Challenging drills will be offered, in addition to alternative exercises so that everyone can learn at their own pace, building the blocks towards eventually achieving complex skills.

Each workshop will begin with a specific and focused warm-up, followed by in-depth handstand training. Students will learn drills and progressions to improve body tention and proper alignment to help you fly light, starting from the floor right up to standing acrobatics.

Prerequisites:
– Coming with a partner recommended.
– Comfortable lifting/being lifted.

About the instructors:
Elliot Fudge loves exploring movement. With a background in snowboarding, yoga, and calisthenics, he specializes in inversions, handstands, and arm balancing and enjoys discovering new ways to move. He is known for his determination, playfulness and endless pool of energy mixed with extraordinarily calm attitude. He loves challenges and pushing himself to his limits.
Since 2014 Elliot has been diving deep into the world of partner acrobatics, acro yoga, Thai massage, flying therapeutics and strengthening the body with natural and functional movement. He trains as both a base and a flyer giving him an excellent understanding of both sides of the practice and becoming certified as a Partner Acrobatics teacher in Thailand in 2015, and Acro Revolution in Hawaii in 2016. Now he enjoys sharing his knowledge with others.
Elliot’s offerings include classes, private lessons, workshops, and coaching. Expect fun and games, and lots of challenges when you meet him, and he will show you that the limits of our bodies are only in our minds!

Gillian Moon lives a pretty nomadic lifestyle but can most often be found performing musical theatre somewhere in Western Canada. High energy physicality characterizes her performance style — she is curious, playful, and always willing to try new things. Her love of expression through movement has led her to train in everything from classical yoga and dance to aerial silks and stilt walking. Somewhere along the way a choreographer decided to introduce her to some dance lifts and her love of being tossed in the air was born! Gillian has been practicing acro yoga for three years in whatever community she can find. Working with many different people has taught her the power of being a strong active flyer. Her passion for acro yoga is fuelled by the endless creativity possible when people truly work together in partnership.
