Nica AcroYoga Play Campout

Event Details

Want to be a part of something spectacular?

~~Overview~~

Come move, explore, connect and learn while immersed in a tropical forest on a volcano just above the beautiful Spanish colonial city of Granada.
Join us, February 27th – March 1st, at Finca OSOM on Mombacho volcano for NicaAcro’s first annual spring acroyoga and movement festival with teachers and movers from all over the world.

~~What~~

This 4-day campout event welcomes movers from all backgrounds and skill levels to train and learn while experiencing the warm culture and beauty of Nicaragua. This festival will include classes that introduce, strengthen and explore the fundamentals of acroyoga with complementary movement classes to foster the connection we have with ourselves and those around us. With teachers coming from all parts of the world, each class will offer insight to improving technique and fostering creativity through different methods of thought for a diverse and enriching experience. Come explore the world of yoga, dance, handstands, partner movement and creative process in this unique outdoor event that will take you into nature and into your body.

~~Location~~

Finca OSOM is just 15 minutes outside of Granada, Nicaragua, and 1 hour from the capital, Managua. Located on the skirt of this breathtaking (figuratively, not literally…it’s dormant!) volcano, the finca (farm) overlooks Granada, and Lake Cocibolca, the 9th largest freshwater lake in the world. The farm is a mix of lush forest and an organic farm. Our vision is to cultivate our connection to the earth and to ourselves.
While the classes and main activities will happen at Finca OSOM. El Respiro Eco-Lodge – with it’s 270 degree views of the lake, volcano and sunset from it’s property and on site pool, is co-hosting the event.

~~Lodging~~

You’ll have a few choices for lodging. The Finca boasts a campsite (some might call it a “glampsite”) with running water and composting toilets. Bring your camping gear or rent it from us! We also have two dorm rooms with 16 beds available.

Campers will be located in various clearings atop the hills of the property with panoramic views of the city, lake Nicaragua and the mystical isletas of Granda. Camping costs are included with each ticket purchase.

~~Arrival and logistics~~

Before heading up into the terrain of Mombacho, we will all meet at PURE- Gym Yoga & Spa and from there take a group shuttle.
PURE is located in the Granada City center, 1.5 blocks from La Iglesia San Francisco. If you arrive into the city and grab a taxi, almost all taxi drivers will know of “Pure, el gimnasio”

If you are flying into Managua International Airport (MGA):

There are taxis that wait outside of the airports. A taxi to Granada from the airport will run about $45. Or we can set you up with a taxi in advance for $35.
There are dozens of hotels and hostels in Granada if you decide to come in a day or two early.

PURE has three rooms: check www.purenica.com or email: [email protected]
Finca OSOM co-owner Chris Allodi owns/runs Miss Margrit’s, which was TripAvisor’s number #1 Bed and Breakfast in Central America on two ocassions! http://www.missmargrits.com
Of course, you could stay at El Respiro Eco-Lodge before the festival.
Stay near Finca OSOM on the vo lcano at Quinta O: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/23288369

From Costa Rica:

Both TransNica and TicaBus offer very affordable buses to Nicaragua out of San Jose (around $30)
Some pass directly through Granada, while others pass through a town near by where you can grab a taxi or public transport. Make sure to be clear before purchasing your ticket where the bus runs through.

~~What to expect~~

Remember this is a campout! Please come prepared to dive into and enjoy the great tropical outdoors! It will be the middle of the dry season in Nicaragua. Although it starts to get quite hot during this season, the land around the volcano will stay comfortably warm, and even potentially cool at night.
We’ll have the opportunity to disconnect from the outside world for 3 days and connect with nature! During this train-cation it will be a good idea to bring…

– Sunscreen
– Waterbottle
– Bugspray
– Headlight/Flashlight
– Re-chargeable external battery (especially if your phone is your camera)
– Swim suit
– Towel
– Allergy Medicine
– Flip flops

Give yourself an extra day or two after the festival! We will be planning a group trip to La Laguna de Apoyo, a volcanic lake and the surrounding nature reserve, to close our time together in Granada!
