Acro Intensive Weekend with Alfonso (AcroWings) & Alberto

In January 2020 The Oxfordshire AcroYoga Society is hosting another amazing workshop in Oxford!

This super duo of Acrobatics and Performance arrives in Oxford to offer a workshop full of new techniques, fun and challenges!!!

The intensive Acro workshop will be hosted at Wadham College, one of the most ancient and prestigious colleges of the University of Oxford, located in Oxford city centre.

An intensive weekend (6,5h on Saturday and 6,5h on Sunday) where we will experience the most exciting techniques of Acrobatics and Acroyoga:

HANDSTANDS: we will work in two groups according to your level whether you want to work on balance for Hand to hand or on one arm handstand
POPS/ ICARIANS: get ready to some of the most exciting tricks where the flyer is really going to fly. this topic will take an important part of the time of the WS during both days, They are two of the best icarian teachers in Europe.
HAND TO HAND: progressions from basic technique to original and surprising mounts and dismounts in L-basing and Standing with the possibility of working in two different groups based on level.
SPECIAL TRICKS: we will discover alternative positions and new flows in L-basing to help us to expand our possibilities in acro.
DANCE & CONTACT FLOWS in standing acro.
MASSAGE & STRETCHING: at the end of the day there will be a partner practice to recover and relax.

You will be surprised by what you are able to do in a safe and confident environment working with an appropriate technique.

PRE-REQUISITES:
In order to use advanced Acro Techniques and work safely, it is important to have a certain degree of experience and confidence in Acro. So it is required to master:
– Star & Reverse Star
– Free star
– Free Shoulder Stand
– Stable Side Star
– Foot2Hand (L based)
– Handstand for 30 seconds against the wall.

It is recommended to have some experience with pops, 2High and Hand to Hand in order to reach the more challenging versions of the tricks.

The material offered during the workshop will be adapted to the needs, level of the participants to make your experience stimulating and enriching. Contact us if you have any questions about pre-requisites, level and content of the workshop.

PRICE:
EARLY BIRD – till the 1st December (or the first 12 tickets available)

NORMAL PRICE -From the 1st of December or after taken the first 12 spots.
-weekend 2 days (13h) 115£/ person
-1 day (6.5h): 65£ / person

Spots are limited to 24 in order to guarantee enough space and attention for everyone. Preference will be given to those who book for the whole weekend.

BOOKING:
Booking is completed only while filling the registration form and sent the money transfer to the bank account provided in the form. Once payment is done you will receive a confirmation email.

HOW TO GET THERE
Wadham College is located in Oxford city centre, at 8 minutes walking distance from Oxford central bus station (Gloucester Green bus station) and 15 minutes from the Oxford Railway Station. Parking facilities are not available in the College, but it is possible to park for free in the proximity of University Park, just 10 minutes walking from the College (for information about free parking spaces in town have a look at www.parkopedia.com), alternatively it is possible to use the Park & Ride facilities located in the proximity of the city centre at about 20 minutes by bus. In-house bike storage is available in the College.

FOOD
Coffee, fruit and snacks will be provided during the workshop, but please be aware that lunch and dinner are on your own. Kitchen facilities and a eating place is available in the college, so please feel free to bring food and snacks for eating together during lunch break. In alternative, various quick food and supermarket are available at just a few minutes walking from the location.

ACCOMODATION
Being a tourist and University city various accommodation option are available in Oxford town centre (Airbnb, hostels, hotels), nevertheless, if you wish to be hosted from members of the Oxfordshire Acro Yoga crew please contact us ASAP.

TEACHERS:

ALFONSO SABAIDEE (AcroWings)
A psychologist converted into an Acromonkey. Alfonso is a passionate and tireless learner of Acroyoga and Acrobatics since the first moment he discovered it. Partner Acrobatics teacher and Co-founder of AcroWings. With this project Alfonso and Céline have been travelling and teaching around Europe sharing their love for Pops, Whips, Balance and Standing Acro in numerous workshops and conventions. Also working and teaching with many teachers around Europe including Alberto with whom he also performs around the world.
Humour, challenges and technique are the pillars of his teaching practice. Let yourself be encouraged by his fire energy and enthusiasm to face your limits in a safe and fun environment.

ALBERTO (Bet-sinlao Malabartin)
Mexican, multidisciplinary artist. He started circus arts in 2002, meanwhile attends the dance school INBA for three years. He has collaborated with different performing companies in Mexico. In 2008 he arrived in Europe, performing with many personal creations in the program “Off” and “In” from street art festivals. In 2009 he entered in the “Centre Regional des Arts du Cirque de Lomme” where he develops a personal technique and artistic touch in “Acro-Contact Partnering”, work with notion of -partnering acrobatic on the movement- which he regulary teaches. In 2012 he graduated in Performing Arts at “Le Mirail” University in Toulouse. Pursuing an intensive training “Towards a plural actor” at the 2 act Theatre. Recently he completed the Master in “Physical Theatre” at the Dimitry Theatre school in Switzerland.
Alberto develops an artistic research for and in the public space, integrating as a tool partnering acrobatics. He has created several performances in solo, duet and collective where his main vectors are, physicality, creativity and playfulness. At the moment actor in the company “Teatro dei Venti” in Italy.
