Intermediate & beyond.

Dedicated to our favourite techniques for deepening the baseline of our practice, this workshop aims to create greater awareness, range and freedom in your solo and partner movement. With the nervous system stimulated yet calm, we can breathe longevity, listening and inner life into our acroyoga practice while executing awesome moves. First, unorthodox handstand drills will refine your sense of alignment and balance. Then, super-free L-base balances will solicit your deep postural muscles and develop your efficiency. Reciprocal movement shows you where you really are in terms of your ability to listen, stay connected and seize the decisive moment in your partnering. Lastly, work a flow close to the ground that will open and balance your body, whether as a base or as a flyer. This workshop is great as a stand-alone, or as a preparation for the afternoon.

Unusual slack-ro, tempos and partner hand-balancing weave together in this original strong-flyer flow. To be at your best for this sequence, we suggest you also attend Session 1, during which we’ll work key primers. Heidi and Micah developed this partner sequence for Vivacroyoga festival in Montreal 2018; it has yet to be reproduced in its entirety by anyone else. If you succeed, untold treasures await you!

Heidi and Micah bring you intriguing partner acrobatics, with hints of contact improvisation. Dynamic spirals, level-changing and role-changing give way to static balances, including hand to hand. Gain new ideas for weaving h2h into flow sequences.

This original flow by Micah and Heidi bridges L-basing with standing acro. Unique entrances and exits to both regular and reverse H2H interweave with slack-ro and counterbalances. It’s a challenging sequence that will work your technique, stamina and open you to new creative possibilities. If you do not have a steady standing H2H, we’ll look at the progressions for building your confidence around this skill. Alternative pathways to circumvent H2H will also be offered, making this a scale-able flow! Along the way, we’ll take time to decipher grips, placement, tempos and alignment.

????? ????? has an unquenchable curiosity for balance. From walking kilometers-long highlines, to staying upside down for extended periods of time, Heidi finds peace while playing with weight shifts and gravity. Leaving her architecture career in 2012, acroyoga became her creative medium as she continued to build with the human body, producing many signature partner moves and flows along the way. From a closet handstand practice, Heidi has grown to meet and train with handstand teachers around the world, ranging from the Beijing Circus School, to Miguel Santana, Claude Victoria, Wybren Wouda and Naël Jammal. Her love for handstands naturally brought her into the world of hand-to-hand and she has taught at various partner acrobatics conventions world-wide. Heidi loves empowering people through movement. Through her workshops, she aims to facilitate states of joyful, embodied concentration and watch people flourish. She completed a 325-hour certification with Ashtanga Yoga Montreal and has been co-teaching the AcroYoga Montreal Teacher Trainings since 2012. Born in California, based in Montreal, Heidi teaches in several different languages.
